In 1851 the schooner ‘Exact’ sailed into the Puget Sound with the Denny Party aboard. They eventually landed and settled into what is now Seattle’s Pioneer Square.

Over 150 years later Pacific Northwest natives Heather and Matt McClung founded the Schooner EXACT brewery in 2007 – on the same day they were married. Heather and Matt are active in the local brewing community; Heather has served as president of the Washington Brewers Guild.

Schooner EXACT beers are precise, pure, and distinctive. The beers are perfect every batch – It’s no surprise that Matt taught Chemistry before transitioning to brewing full time. Rather than going for over-the-top flavors, Matt focuses on drinkability: traditional styles with reasonable alcohol and bitterness levels. Matt has also been building up an ambitious sour and barrel ageing program, for which Schooner EXACT is already locally famous. In 2015, the Hopvine IPA was chosen for the top prize (Comac Trophy) at the Brussels Beer Challenge.

Seattle Craft Beer pioneer Dick Cantwell founded Elysian Brewing Company in 1996 and was head brewer until 2015.

Elysian started as a medium sized brewpub in Seattle’s Capitol Hill and has expanded to become one of the largest and most famous brands in Washington State.

Recognized for their flagship beers as well as innovation, Elysian was named Large Brewpub of the Year at the Great American Beer Festival in 1999, 2003 and 2004.

Elysian is also well known for their spirit of collaboration with breweries of all sizes.
